We the committee members responsible for the 30th annual Lotus Owners Gathering (LOG 30) are pleased to announce that several contests will be held in conjunction with the event. We solicit your participation. The contests will be:
Children’s’ – Open to Lotus related arts and crafts created by a child.
Craft – Any Lotus related object or performance that isn’t a photograph or model. Please contact the Contest Chair if you wish to enter a performance work in this category.
Hard Luck – not actually a contest but a way of recognizing people who surmount adversity to attend LOG. The person(s) acknowledged usually have overcome a series of mishaps, a major breakdown or accident.
Honest Jack Colegrove Liars Essay – An essay contest on the topic of “Why I didn’t bring my Lotus to LOG”. The winning entry is often read by the author at the banquette and published in reMarque. Essays will be judged by a select group of Lotus literati who value tall tails and story telling over mere fact.
Long Distance – Categories are:
· Furthest distance drive in a Lotus to LOG
· Longest distance tour in a Lotus on the way to LOG
· Furthest distance towing a Lotus to LOG
· Furthest distance traveled to LOG
Model – A miniature of a Lotus related object, usually a car but it could be a representation of any significant in object in the history of Lotus.
Photograph – A Lotus related original photograph.
Additional contests and categories may be announced as feedback is received and event planning progresses. Except for the Hard Luck and Honest Jack Colegrove Liars Essay all events are judged via “people’s choice” of registered LOG attendees. Detailed contest rules are being developed and will be available ASAP. So; start planning your route to LOG. Start planning your craft entries, searching for a model kit of your favorite Lotus, review your best photographs and warm up your word processor. Get those creative juices of yours flowing.
